This site supports and celebrates strategy Eurogame play, including hosting, management, and tracking of gameplay and tournaments. Eurogames emphasize social play, strategy and skill, no player elimination, indirect conflict (typically resource competition), and attention to artwork, component design, and themes. For a richer discussion, see the Wikipedia entry or Stewart Woods's book Eurogames: The Design, Culture and Play of Modern European Board Games (2012).
Site Organization
Currently the site features the following scheduling and tracking pages:
Calendar. Shows events that have been published on the Seattle Board Games Meetup or elsewhere.
Planned. Gameplay events planned for Eurogame Saturdays and Eurogame Wednesdays in Seattle. We will also try some one-day mini tournaments on Sundays. These could change, and discussion and proposals are welcome.
Played. Tracks the results of games played. This may only be used for games that are part of tournaments or other series where players want their scores recorded and tracked.
Gameplay Ratings. Rankings of players by game using a multiplayer ELO rating system.
Strategy Notes. Tips and deep dives into effective strategies for some games.
Resources. Reference material, player aids, instructional videos, and other resources for individual games.
